DANCING WITH CLASSICAL ARABIC MUSIC FOUNDATION COURSE:
ADV/PRO level
An epic, magnificent course (running since 2014) empowering dancers to find and develop their own unique style, with tons of inspiration from exploring the birth of modern Oriental Dance from the time of Badia Masnby and the beginning of the age of the great songmasters up until the late Golden Age of Egyptian Cinema, from the perspective of the cultural epicentre of the Arabic World in Cairo. Examples choreographies are danced from seven Silver Screen/Golden Age legends and four leading Arabic songmasters works. Theory lectures are supported by 90% practical in this homework-free course.
 Participants completing the course have experienced massive 360' positive shifts in both their stage careers and in writing their own dance school curriculums. CLASSICAL ARABIC MUSIC

A wide genre of music encompassing instrumental and vocal parts composed according to historical inherited structures of iqa'a (rhythm) and maqam (melodic scale) devised before the 7th century. The vocal accompaniment is typically in the Classical Arabic language, ie Koranic Arabic. To access the feeling on this music and naturalisation to it, the Western ear is required to shift focus to being Melody-centric.

WHAT IS IN THE COURSE?

All pivotal locomotive theory principle is covered in the opening modules. 
Lectures introduce the historic timeframe and the study of each artist, supported by examples of their works.
Example choreographies are danced for 11 artist studies and participants are enabled to explore style/archetype and experience fountains of inspiration. 

COURSE STRUCTURE:

All Beverli's advanced/pro courses are ideally studied in a small group, whether you are attending in-persn or online. 
The 4hr rich and detailed modules (often 10/90 theory/practical) require "simmer time" between sessions to allow the full flavour of the material to develop and should be at least one month aprart. All materials/ recordings are loaded to dropbox for lifetime reference/download.
