A wide genre of music encompassing instrumental and vocal parts composed according to historical inherited structures of iqa'a (rhythm) and maqam (melodic scale) devised before the 7th century. The vocal accompaniment is typically in the Classical Arabic language, ie Koranic Arabic. To access the feeling on this music and naturalisation to it, the Western ear is required to shift focus to being Melody-centric.
All pivotal locomotive theory principle is covered in the opening modules.
Lectures introduce the historic timeframe and the study of each artist, supported by examples of their works.
Example choreographies are danced for 11 artist studies and participants are enabled to explore style/archetype and experience fountains of inspiration.
All Beverli's advanced/pro courses are ideally studied in a small group, whether you are attending in-persn or online.
The 4hr rich and detailed modules (often 10/90 theory/practical) require "simmer time" between sessions to allow the full flavour of the material to develop and should be at least one month aprart. All materials/ recordings are loaded to dropbox for lifetime reference/download.
